If you have been consistent in following my daily posts, thank you! But I am making a few changes. I will be going to a once-a-week post. In place of this, I will also be putting together a once-a-week podcast through YouTube. If you are a subscriber (you get my email regarding my posts), I will also keep you updated there. In a moment, I will carry on with today’s post – With the Tongue We Speak life.
So starting next week, every Monday morning my blog will post. The focus as always will relate to your everyday-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus. In so many words, your daily Christian walk and growth. The podcast will be coming soon. More on that later.
Life and Death is in the Power of the Tongue
Today is a day to take another step toward your dream, and then tomorrow another one, and then the next day, another. Do not be discouraged by what you see, for the eye at times lacks to see by faith that which already exists and is just around the corner. So let’s take in some words of encouragement this morning, to speak life, starting with a quote:
Words Regarding Your Life
If you are following these words I share closely, you no doubt recall the name Og Mandino and his book I’ve mentioned, The Greatest Salesman in the World. It needs to be a part of your library. The paragraph above is a quote from that very book.
Let us take a look at words of life. Words regarding your life.
Proverbs 18:21 niv
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Let’s also look at The Message, a transliteration of that verse (I like it):
Proverbs 18:21 msg
Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.
Many have learned to use their words for good and for bad. I think of the many hurting people who have been battered down by negative words over and over again. Some starting back as early as a one or two-month-old baby in some cases. The abusers have left the abused believing they have little or no worth.
Words of Life
On the other hand, I see others (like my mentor Keith) who speak words of life into people like me, and like Bridget (my mentor’s wife) does for Carmen.
I work with a great team in a franchise system. If I had to put it into my own words, my job and the job of our team is to be those grapes you have access to, to pluck from the tallest of the vines. Our team is learning and growing all the time. We are energized in seeing our owners in the system succeed. We are here to help, support, and encourage owners to see dreams fulfilled!
Challenge of the day:
Speak the words of life to someone today. When you do, though it may feel awkward, you have to mean it. End your words that you speak into them with the words, “So be it.” Ex: What you’ve been doing shows the amazing person you are and I can see how God is at work in and through you. With the tongue, we speak life. So be it!
