Happy New Year! Welcome to 2024! 2023 is over, over, ‘over and out!’ It’s a new day. It’s a new year! It’s time to celebrate. What are your resolutions for this year? Make them count! Let’s talk about 2024 and what it could look like.
It is time to celebrate our progress from 2023, but even more so in what is to come. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done. This is what I pray for this year. I pray that His Kingdom will fully manifest in your life, my life, and the life of all the world.
Matthew 6:9-10 niv
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP
“Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.
Eternity doesn’t start when we die. That’s just a transition. Heaven on earth (eternity with God) starts when we begin our every-day-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus. My heaven on earth started on April 2, 1980, when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Yours started on _________ (add to the comments below – I would love to know) when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
So I will make the following short and allow you and Jesus to discuss it from here.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done – so I believe that God’s will is for His Kingdom to come.
His Kingdom in My Life
God wants me to be more like Him. I want His will to be done in my life. He wants me to be better at who He created me to be. That, for me, is certainly a life-long process, but I’m getting better at it in my old age. Want to know how to do this? To be all that He created you to be?
Philippians 3:12 ESV
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
First, it is important to understand our place with Christ and because of Christ – it’s not earned. It’s because of what Christ Jesus did.
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Be More Like Him
I know, I know! It is what we are supposed to do, be more like Him. We become more like Him as we spend more time with Him. It really is about becoming more like Him. But it is also about becoming more like who He created us to be.
Be Less Like Him
Why does it seem like we work really hard at becoming something else other than who/what He created us to be? When we get too busy to spend time with Him in solitude or while we are on the move, we become less like Him. And when we do that, then we become less of who we are. Less of who He created us to be.
We only become more like the person He created us to be when we become more like Him. This means that we become more of who He designed us to be when we become more like Him. Why wouldn’t you want to become more like who you were really created to be?
2 Peter 3:9 MSG
God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.
Hebrews 12:1 MSG
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
So here’s to a new year, a continuance of a new life, a leaving of the old man (old person before Christ) behind, and looking forward to the most productive year ever up to this point! Let’s do the Happy Dance:
Challenge of the Year:
Become more like who you were created to be by spending more time with He who created you, Jesus Christ. So be it!
