As I prepare to emcee my 45th high school reunion, I’ve been swept up in a sea of memories. Old photos, familiar names, stories that make us laugh, and even those that tug at our hearts. There’s something sacred about a reunion. It’s not just about catching up. It’s about coming back. A season of reunion is at hand.

Reflections
Coming back to the people who knew you before life got complicated.
Coming back to shared beginnings.
And, coming back to remember who you were – and maybe even glimpse who you’ve become.
The Spiritual Thread of Reunion
And as I think about reunion in a spiritual sense, I’m reminded:
God is the original orchestrator of reunions.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is one long story of God bringing His people back to Himself.
Back to each other.
Back to hope.
And, back to wholeness.
Jesus tells the story of a son who wandered far from home—but the father never gave up. He waited. Watched. Ran.
Luke 15:20 MSG
When he was still a long way off, his father saw him. His heart pounding, he ran out, embraced him, and kissed him.
That’s reunion. Not just showing up, but being welcomed back with open arms. With joy. With celebration.
Why Reunions Matter
Reunions remind us of what matters.
They restore connections that time has tried to fade.
They honor stories—both the joyful and the painful.
And, they show us that while life moves on, love has a long memory.
An Invitation to Return
So maybe your heart needs a reunion today.
Maybe with someone else.
Maybe with God.
And, maybe with a part of yourself you’ve forgotten.
The good news? God’s heart is always open. He’s always preparing for your return. And when you come back. even just a little, He runs to meet you. A season of reunion brings restoration.
Reflection Questions:
- Is there someone God is inviting you to reconnect with?
- Where in your life is He gently restoring what once felt lost?
Challenge of the Week
This is the challenge – Pray this, “Lord, thank You for never giving up on reunion. Thank You for welcoming me back time and again, with mercy and joy. Help me be a person of restoration. Someone who reaches out, makes space, and celebrates the beauty of coming back together. Not just me, with you. But reuniting me with others you have brought across my path over the years. In Jesus Name. So be it.
