Good morning. We made it to Friday. If you had a productive week, all week, Monday through Friday, you may be considered a powerhouse. Because God gives us a spirit not of fear but of power and love, so let’s jump right into words of encouragement.
Powerhouse (noun) – a person or thing of great energy, strength, or power.
When I think of someone who is a powerhouse, I think of someone who is a workhorse. Someone who gets things done, who is highly productive and highly driven and will not be denied or stopped.
Business owners are powerhouses. When I think of a business owner being a powerhouse, I think of someone who does not entertain excuses. Excuses are roadblocks. So whenever a challenge is presented, a powerhouse finds a way through it. When I think of this, it reminds me of Refrigerator Perry of the 1985 Super Bowl Champs, the Chicago Bears – watch this:
No excuses for being a Bear’s fan – we do not have a spirit of fear.
God gives us a spirit not of fear, but of power. So as a Bear’s fan I will power through a losing season however long that may be. A guy still has to have something to celebrate, albeit 36 years ago.
You are a powerhouse too, no matter your place in life – a powerhouse employee, a powerhouse wife or husband, a powerhouse mom or dad! Did you not know that? And not only that, but you are also a powerhouse as a follower of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 MSG
But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves. We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair; hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted; struck down, but never destroyed;
Do you know that you have within you the power and presence of (the) Holy Spirit? That every-day-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus every step of the way with you?
Now, this doesn’t mean you are not going to fall down, or that you won’t miss it, or that you won’t mess up, get tripped up or take a blow or two. We might not be perfect, and we do live in frail vessels – our earth suits. But we have a Refrigerator Perry in Jesus (Can I say that?). And He wants to accomplish some big things through us!
2 Timothy 1:7 ESV
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
So today walk with confidence. Walk as the powerhouse that you are. Each step you take, you take for the Kingdom of God. Picture yourself, not to be denied (like Refrigerator Perry crossing that goal line) of your dreams no matter what.
Challenge of the day: Remember your ‘why’ (your purpose, goals and dreams). Know who you are in Christ, that powerhouse that you are, and don’t be denied your dreams. Those dreams God put in your heart. So be it!
