Hello, it’s Tuesday! God has a purpose for all of us! Yes! Every single one of us. Did you know that?! Let’s purposefully get into God’s word with some Words of Encouragement.
I want to spend a few days here. But before I can get into God’s purpose for your life over the next several days, let’s take a look at God’s purpose and the passion He has for this world.
God pursues us…ALL of us
This will give us a foundation to work from:
Ephesians 3: 4-8 MSG
4-6 As you read over what I have written to you, you’ll be able to see for yourselves into the mystery of Christ. None of our ancestors understood this. Only in our time has it been made clear by God’s Spirit through his holy apostles and prophets of this new order. The mystery is that people who have never heard of God and those who have heard of him all their lives (what I’ve been calling outsiders and insiders) stand on the same ground before God. They get the same offer, same help, same promises in Christ Jesus. The Message is accessible and welcoming to everyone, across the board.
7-8 This is my life work: helping people understand and respond to this Message. It came as a sheer gift to me, a real surprise, God handling all the details. When it came to presenting the Message to people who had no background in God’s way, I was the least qualified of any of the available Christians. God saw to it that I was equipped, but you can be sure that it had nothing to do with my natural abilities.
There is no way we can ever know what God’s purpose is in creating this whole big universe. Have you seen how big it is? Watch this:
However big, we do get a glimpse of God’s purpose and passion (from Ephesians 3 and several other related scriptures). This is in relation to our lives here on our tiny planet. And because of this, for reasons that are incomprehensible to us, God has a passion for intimacy with us. And catch this – we participate in His eternal purposes when we pursue Him with our undivided heart.
Challenge for today – Discover God’s purpose for you, and participate in it. Hint – it’s similar to His passion. So be it!
Bonus Note – I love verse 8 from above. In what Paul was doing, he previously did not have any background in God’s way. That had nothing to do with his natural abilities (God’s hand of blessing extending through him).
John says
The timing is perfect on this subject! I’ve been struggling a bit with purpose. Unfortunately many men measure themselves by title and/or salary. As a retiree, I now have neither. Please pray I start appreciating my titles of Husband and Dad more and find yet another purpose post-retirement. God bless you Scott Ramsey!
Scott Ramsey says
John and my dear friend Jeff, :o) You’ve been there, done that – nothing for you to have to prove to others or to our friend and Lord Jesus. You’ve outdone most. And the Dad/Father title and role is something, if I remember right, that you asked for from our Father. I can’t imagine the ministry (purpose) you and Sherryl have, the way you connect with a continual flow of new neighbors. There is no doubt they see something different. God has you on the road for a reason, and you are fulfilling that with your life.
Looking forward to seeing (hearing) how God continues to use you.
