I will propose an unpopular thought in today’s Words of Encouragement. It won’t feel all warm and fuzzy. You may not even agree. It is about the state of this world, this nation, our personal world, our jobs, our economy, and our lives. God is in control.
This will be short and to the point today, and without scripture. This is only to get you thinking. If I left you with only the title of this blog post, I think most people would agree with the title or topic – God is in control! But let me start with a prevalent question:
I grew up hearing many answers and justifications by Christians for this question. It’s because most people couldn’t really explain it. So people would say things like, “We will never understand God.” Or just in general, when looking at all the crazy things of this world and all the bad (that’s a long list) going on, they would demand, “God is in control,” in trying to encourage us. And some will say, “Well, we really don’t know the will of God – He had a purpose for doing this or for allowing that to happen.”
I’ve heard those explanations and others throughout my Christian Life. I wasn’t sure what to believe myself. I probably even used some of those explanations a time or two. But are these Biblical?
Here’s a question for you. If God is in control would you really want to believe in a God that can’t do any better than this? If God is in control why is there so much bad in the world? As in the state of this world. The state of our economy. The state of people’s lives. What about the state of my life or your life?
Who really is in Control?
I will leave you with the thought, the question, above. It will be up to you to answer it. Don’t let someone else answer it for you. Find out for yourself. Who really is in control? Is it God? Is it the devil, the government/politics, or the economy? Or is it you who is in control? Oh, here’s one – is it the church, the body of Christ, who is in control?
Challenge of the Week
One more question. Is it about you giving up control, or is it about you taking control? Oh, I so want to explain, qualify or answer this with the word of God. But I want you to answer this. So this is the challenge. What is your answer (comment below)? Don’t justify or qualify your answer without the Word of God. As we learned last week, the Word of God is our word of encouragement. So be it!
Note: More on this next week.
