I often wonder. I wonder about many things. But not all those who wander are lost. I tend to let my mind wander about the wonder of it all. I wonder at the marvel of this world. Sometimes I get lost in the wonder of it all. And I wonder in awe of God. Our God is a God of Wonder.
I am always in wonder of God. But at times I also wonder about my life slipping like water through my hands, and so the water never fills me up. I am left unfulfilled.
An Unfulfilled Life
There are so many things that we chase after, looking to be fulfilled. We even follow people who give us, even if unintentionally, the perception or illusion of being fulfilled by what they do. The adventures or actions of others cannot be emulated in any way that would leave us fulfilled. A co-worker shared this verse the other day – I think it fits here:
Proverbs 19:21 niv
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
I Wonder
A friend shared this verse the other day, and it made me wonder. I agree we all have many plans as stated in the first part of the verse. But does that mean that those plans have no place? They are dead ends? So does this mean that any plan that prevails will only be mandated, dictated, and activated by God or it will not prevail?
Plans vs Purpose
I wonder if God gives us the ability to go after plans, dreams, and goals that are on our hearts through the way He created us – our strengths, gifts, and abilities. And that in doing so, when we have His purpose in mind His purpose will prevail, and our plans will be a success.
Being Fulfilled
When we have the purpose of our Father in mind, when we act on that in who we are, in what we do, and in how we do it, His purpose will prevail. What a mighty promise! That is my friend, fulfillment. That is a God of wonder!
So our being fulfilled comes from our relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ. That comes with growing that relationship in our everyday-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus. Getting to know Him and trusting Him and being fulfilled by that relationship with Him, thus fulfilling His purpose.
Challenge of the Week
Know that being fulfilled comes from a personal relationship with God. Throughout the week, in everything you do, in whatever you do in your everyday life, think about what God’s purpose is through that which you do. That purpose? Others seeing Him through you! So be it.
