It is Spring! So let it rain, let it rain, let it rain! Today as we look at Words of Encouragement we are going to take a look at how rain affects us. As you read on and take a look, I pray that the eyes of your heart would see clearly. Because I can see clearly now, the rain is gone.
Rain (noun) – moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate drops.
What is it about rain? In moderate amounts, we love the rain. We sing in the rain, we dance in the rain, we walk in the rain. Carmen and I love walking on the beach in the rain. That’s because no one else is there! So we love being soaked in the rain.
There is something cleansing about the rain too. It cleans the air. It knocks down all the dust and pollen, and cleans my Jeep. And speaking of Jeeps – two times I have been caught in the rain with my Jeep top off. One was after a countryside drive with Carmen.
The other was at a “Go Topless” Jeep rally with over 300 Jeeps coming together to raise money for breast cancer awareness. It poured for several hours. The roads turned into creeks and other traffic was splashing water into our Jeeps as well as the rain pouring down upon us. But in honor of the occasion, many of the Jeeps kept their tops off, thus being drenched completely. It was quite the memory.

What the Bible Says About Rain:
God’s presence is like rain. He brings cleansing and refreshment. He brings the former and latter rains or what is referred to in contemporary language, the autumn and spring rains.
So the greatest rain of all is rain from heaven. Rain is a Beautiful Thing. We talk, pray and sing about Holy Spirit raining down upon us. We want God’s blessings to rain down. And we want His rain to cleanse us from the sin in which we struggle.
Okay, so I am not going to go into the amazing worship song about “Holy Spirit rain down on us” or anything similar. I want to take a different perspective for just a moment by asking a question?
Where does the Spirit of God dwell?
Does he dwell in heaven? Up in the clouds, or hovering just above the buildings and trees? Or does he dwell in the heart of the believer? You know the answer to this!
So why are your singing and praying for the rain to come down upon you, when His presence already surrounds you and is in you…in your heart. Maybe you are the rain, filled with the Spirit, sent as refreshing rains to others to greatly bless them.
The rains cleanse. The rains allow us to see clearer than before. The obstacles of sin, frustration, discouragement, loneliness and separation from God are now clearly revealed. You can better see the obstacles now. And now, after identifying the obstacles, you can overcome them…with your world-overcoming faith.
So instead of that amazing worship song, I will end today’s blog with a light, fun song. A song with great words, singing about the rain. I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone. Ah yes, the music of the 70s. Remember this one by Johnny Nash?
Challenge of the Day: As we conclude for the day I hope you have a moment to listen, ask Jesus to inspire you, and take the rain that is within you and rain on other’s lives today. You reap what you sow. So be it!
