It Is The Small Moments

Wait! What? The small moments, that’s what matters? Yes! So, we are going to take a look at how the small moments turn out to be a big deal. In today’s post, we are going to take a look at the small moments of life.

It is the small moments that define our lives and impact others that we love.

What defines you are those seemingly unimportant moments when you think no one notices.

Hollywood Style

We see and hear it in many stories. It’s probably your story. In the movies, it’s when we see a seemingly unimportant person going through seemingly unimportant motions, trials, and challenges. Then BOOM! They are put on the center stage of a dramatic moment or event.

It’s the small moments that lead up to that.

Okay, so we might not have experienced it Hollywood style, but it is the small moments. That’s what defines who we are. That is what has gotten us to the place where we are at this moment.

It Is Defining You

Wait! You might be thinking, this isn’t where I want to be though! Well, that’s okay. It’s okay because it’s not where you are supposed to end up. But it is where you are in your journey. It’s what is defining you. Who you are becoming. Who you will be.

I think about each of my kids. It’s the small moments:

Elias

My 22-year-old. Sitting for hours with him in a ground blind, in the quietness. My hunting buddy.

Lexi

My 27-year-old. This is my stepdaughter, and the daughter I never had. A ‘father-daughter date night. Her working hard in and with our business. A walk or two on the beach. Now my beautiful grown-up daughter is engaged to be married.

Sebastian

My 29-year-old. Soccer games, (rock) band performances (drums), small talks. Now a family man with our two Grandkids. Watching him being a wonderful dad.

Michael

My oldest is at 31 now. Helping coach his teams, pitching and catching with him in the backyard. Our make-shift fishing trips. My fishing buddy.

Carmen – aka Lovey

Then there is my wife. My lifelong partner TDDUP (Till Death Do Us Part). Our life has been all about the magical small moments of our everyday life that we walk in together. Many times with our best dog ever, Weegee.

Where is all of this leading? I don’t know. But I know the purpose of it all, and that’s to allow me to draw closer to my God. And so I don’t know the exact plans of it all – what events these small moments are all leading up to. But that’s God’s GPS (God’s Planned Surprises)!

What I Do Know

But I do know, when I look back on it all in the end, it will be those small moments that mattered. Definitely, those moments mattered to me. But those moments, which at the time seemed insignificant, mattered to others as well.

Colossians 2:6 NASB

Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so[a]walk in Him,

That everyday-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus. Walk with Him every step of the way, even in the small moments. Reflect on that as you take in this song by JJ Heller…

Challenge of the Week

You can’t take this challenge until you’ve watched the video by JJ Heller. Once you’ve done that, now what? What does this message inspire in your heart? What are you going to do with it? Reflect? Go tell someone how much they matter? Start not taking for granted the small moments? It’s a part of your everyday-walking-around-kind-of-life with Jesus! So be it.
