Yesterday’s blog featured the video 212 Degrees. I hope it inspired you. Discipline and routine – key actions to stepping up your game, stepping up your life. It is all about reflecting the heart of God.
Today let us take another look at self-discipline, but in the sense of who God is:
Jeremiah 18:1-12
Look it up and read this before proceeding – very good scripture. This is key in understanding Who God Is and how disciplined He is. Two things:
- God Is…very patient, compassionate, gracioius and slow to anger and keeps his promises, not wanting anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance.
- God Is…bound by His own word. He is disciplined to follow and to not work outside the parameters of it – EVER!
Those are two key things about our God, our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And that is very good news for us!
Trust and Confidence is Reflecting God’s Heart
I want to give you a peak into my relationship with my mentor. You have to understand that this relationship has developed over a lot of years. So a very high level of trust and confidence has been built. His beautiful wife Bridget is a double bonus in that she and Keith both pour into the lives of me and Carmen.
Carmen and I are so blessed to have these two amazing people in our lives. The following note is from my mentor after sharing parts of my content from yesterday’s blog.
“My dear Brother Pastor of Business People (he addresses me in fun and crazy ways every time we email 😊),
Excellent video!! Wow!! Very powerful teaching you gave today. I do remember telling you about the not wanting to be on the stretcher…saying you are sorry for not taking better care of yourself. I was on the stretcher, looking up and telling my wife that very thing on April 1, 1990 at Regional Hospital at 3AM. “Mr. Gaddis, you have had a myocardial infarction…a heart attack.” were the words I did not want to hear from the doctor.
So way to go huffer and puffer!!!!!”
By the way, he is ancient (because he’s older than me) and still rides his bike, hikes, and does something like a 100 push-ups a day. And yes, he is reading this today.
Challenge for today – Think about how you can reflect this kind of self-discipline. As you deal with various situations today, are you reacting (knee-jerk reactions) or are you responding with the wisdom from the word of God and with the heart of God? So be it!
