If you’ve ever been hunted, it is horrifying! Being hunted is not a random act. When hunting, the predator is very strategic to give themselves the best possible chance of taking you down.
You Are Being Watched
Demons are on the prowl, like a roaring lion, or a wolf pack on the hunt. They are very patient.
I Peter 5:8 AMP
Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.
Prowl (verb) – The devil moves around restlessly and stealthily, in search of or as if in search of someone to take down (kill, steal, and destroy).
You can observe it at a nightclub. People are on the prowl. That means they are watching and evaluating a potential partner. The devil is the same, watching for the best person. But his goal is to take someone down. He is observing, and watching. He wants to see who is an easy target, what his chances are, and what the best tactics are for him to use.
The Enemy is Strategic – Know his Tactics
The enemy will weigh many different factors when selecting his target and, as circumstances change during the hunt the target may change as well. Initially, they may be pursuing a baby Christian, but if a mature Christian stumbles unexpectedly, they all know to go after the bigger target. Conversely, if too many factors seem to favor the target, they may choose to wait.
If you are being hunted, you need to be prepared. Wait! If you are a follower of Christ, walking in His footsteps, a disciple of Jesus, then you are being hunted. So, what to do if you are the hunted? Read on!
How to Protect Yourself
There are a few steps I’ll review next, but the following is a great quote:
You know people. You and I are people. We all have put ourselves in some pretty awkward situations that have put us in jeopardy. Here are some steps, with Biblical details for you to study and apply, to protect yourself.
50 Ways to Flee Your Hunter
Okay, that’s the closest I can come to the old Paul Simon song, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. Here are some things to consider:
- Accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior
- You don’t want to walk into the battle alone and there is power in the name of Jesus if you are a believer
- Never isolate yourself – always be in “community” with other believers. You have their backs and they have yours.
- Knowing your authority
- This is a deep study in itself. So I am going to give you a link to challenge yourself in learning about your authority – go to my good friend John Grunewald’s site and go through his audio series – Authority, Sessions 1-6.
- Spiritual Armour – Here’s the series of my blogs on that:
Well, that should be enough to keep you occupied for a while. And in knowing who you are in Christ, feel free to sing this right along with Crowder – Run Devil Run!
Challenge of the Week
Learn all you can about your place in Christ, the power of His name, your authority, and the power of the community of believers (the Church). You might be the hunted, but the battle is yours with your World Overcoming Faith.
I John 5:4 AMP – For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].
So be it!
