This is about an informant, which in its simplest definition is a person who gives information to another.
The Informant – (noun):
any individual who furnishes information to an intelligence agency in the course of a confidential relationship protecting the identity of such individual from public disclosure.
Mark Whitacre
Many are familiar with the major motion picture The Informant. It starred Matt Damon as Mark Whitacre. Mark was an Ivy League Ph.D. and the highest-ranked executive of any Fortune 500 company to become a whistleblower in US history. He is responsible for uncovering the ADM price-fixing scandal in the early 1990s.
Office Pride’s annual owner’s retreat featured Mark as a Keynote Speaker in 2019. His story is gut-wrenching as he put himself in an unbelievably tough place. As told by Mark, his wife (Ginger) was the true whistleblower. Mark shared with his wife Ginger what he had gotten himself into. Ginger’s relationship with Christ and her solid core values, would not allow the scandal to continue.
This led to a dangerous position that was mentally and emotionally draining. Mark was wired daily at 5 am for 3 years. In being wired he was told that any given day could be his last if he was found out as an informant.
For the full story and more, you can go to Mark’s website, markwhitacre.com. It’s a story of hope in the midst of the darkest hours, even years. It is a story about second chances and overcoming insurmountable adversity. Never give up hope. Don’t lose heart!
Your Story
I Peter 5:8 WNT
Curb every passion, and be on the alert. Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.
What we know about our Accuser, the Devil, is that he is a liar. So then, he goes before God our Father and continually accuses us.
Revelation 12:10 AMP
“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom (dominion, reign) of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come; for the accuser of our [believing] brothers and sisters has been thrown down [at last], he who accuses them and keeps bringing charges [of sinful behavior] against them before our God day and night.
The Good News is that we have forgiveness through the blood of Christ. The Word of God (faith) is our Evidence against our accuser the devil.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
If you look a bit further in Revelation 12, verse 11 (NASB), God’s Word says,
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.”
Where is your story in all of this? It’s in the Word of God. It’s not just your story, it is your evidence, your proof! Hang on to the Word of God. Mark’s wife hung on to the Word of God through all the trials her husband had as an informant. Don’t let go of it! God’s Word is the truth no matter how tough the situation. And no matter the sins that have been committed.
So don’t lose heart…
Challenge of the Week
The words of the accuser, as in the Devil, cannot be used against us. Know who you are in Christ. We are made righteous by the blood of the lamb and the word (God’s Word) of our testimony. This week, lift your head high and know who you are in Christ. For the Accuser has been defeated. So be it!
