The thing is, that is what the point is. If you want to know the point, see where it points to and you will see the point. Remember the detective show Monk? His favorite line in making his point was, “Here’s the thing.” So let’s talk about, “What is the point?”
Here’s the Thing
Most people want to make a point in life. While people are out in the world trying to make a point and be heard, just as many people are trying to see the point of it all. They just want to know, what is the point.
Missing the Point
Ever feel like you missed the point someone was trying to make? Yeah, me too!
Missing the point is described as an informal fallacy that occurs when an argument’s conclusion doesn’t address the issue at hand. This happens often in life. Ah, communication!
Pointing the Direction
The point of something is that it is pointing to something. Again, as Monk would say, “The Thing is.”
Thanks be to God for pointing the direction out to us. He made the point clear. He pointed it all out to us.
Here’s My Point
Everything points to Jesus. This includes from the beginning of time as seen in the Old Testament and ‘shadows’ of Christ. See Word Parter’s A Simple Guide for Seeing How the Old Testament Points to Jesus.
Then, just as the Old Testament pointed and prophecy was fulfilled, we have Jesus (God in the flesh) coming to us. All the prophets, all the events and works of God, and even the Word of God, points to one person – Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-3, 14 AMP
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and [b]the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.
14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).
Do Not Be Mislead
People are pointing in a lot of different directions. If using a map, this points nowhere annd there is no foundation to it. This story (or the roadmap) of Jesus began from the foundations of the world.
People will say, “Well, the thing is.” But the map, the pointing in the right direction, always leads back to Jesus. Jesus is the center and all roads point to Him. Jesus said, “The thing is…”
John 14:6 AMP
6 “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Challenge of the Week
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Jesus is the light of the world. He is the lamp unto your feet, pointing the way. Choose today, this week, who you will follow. Do not go with all the finger pointing. Go with the One who is the way-maker, Jesus Christ. So be it!
