Ever thought of having a practice, but wasn’t a doctor, veterinarian, or attorney? Attornies practice law. Doctors and Vets practice medicine. Well, I am here to say that I practice my faith. What kind of practice do you have?
Practicing Your Faith
Did you know that the Bible talks about all different levels of faith? It’s true. From great faith, to little faith, fake faith, sincere faith, growing faith, dead faith, unwavering faith, strong, active, genuine, weak, muster-seed.
Faith Without Works
There is even a faith without works…if that were possible.
James 2:17 KJV
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
A Measure of Faith
We are all given a measure of faith – Romans 12:3. This is how we had enough to go on to make a decision to accept Christ in our lives and begin to follow Him.
Two Ways To Grow Your Faith
I love steps. The seven minute abs, or is that six? Ten steps to grow a business. Five steps to being a better mother or father. Oh, and so much more. I was reading about all the various levels of faith. Some said three types of faith, some said five, I said, “Who cares!” Bottom line is that we are practicing it.
Step One in Growing Your Faith
You can’t do it without having God’s Word.
You gotta get it in your head, into your heart. Renewing your mind day by day with the Word of God.
Step Two – Practice it
Yes, you gotta put it into action. I think next week’s blog I will share a few times I ‘practiced’ my faith in some crazy situations. I was practicing my faith. But when it comes down to it, we are practicing our faith daily.
When the day is all said and done, if someone was watching you practice your faith, how would they score you? Great faith? Weak or little faith? Faith without works (this is the Talkers, not the Walkers)? World Overcoming/Mountain Moving faith?
Peter walked on water and was scored with ‘little’ faith. Where are you?
Foundation of Your Faith
What was the foundation of your faith? Okay, that’s a trick question. The Word of God is the foundation of your faith. So whatever you are putting into action must be founded or supported by God’s Word in order for it to be any level of faith.
Jesus is The Word of God
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Jesus is the Word – the spoken Word of God.
John 1:1 & 14a KJV
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
He is literally the spoken word of God that formed the foundations of the world.
Challenge of the Week
Practice your faith – grow your faith. Be in the Word of God. Then put it to action. Will it be in a storm (literally or a storm of life)? Or what about a difficult personal situation? Perhaps it will simply be in your everyday-walking-around-kind-of-life in everyday normal situations. Determine your level of faith, and then begin growing it to great levels. So be it!
